Scotland Europa - Regional Development
Regional Development
At Scotland Europa we have had a long history of regional development engagement, which has been a staple on our policy agenda since we opened our Brussels office.
Whilst our work areas have developed and expanded in response to the cyclical nature of the European Union’s policy agenda, a number of our members remain actively engaged in the development and implementation of regional policy.
Scottish organisations and Managing Authorities have, over the years, excelled in delivery and management of EU Programmes as well as gaining a reputation as valuable partners in transnational EU Programmes.
Many Scottish Programmes have been regarded as especially progressive. In particular they gained good reputation in their implementation of the so-called EU horizontal themes such as equal opportunities and sustainable development.
Our current work with, and for, our members focuses on a number of key “future of” debates. These are already centred on establishing the right policy framework beyond the current programming period which ends in 2013.
This includes discussions on the future of Regional, Transport, Innovation and Fisheries policy as well as the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the EU Budget Review and Lisbon Strategy.
Whilst early engagement in EU policy is one of our key objectives, we are also keen not to lose sight of the need to explore the opportunities opened up by EU funding. Our Scotland based team’s focus is on strategic EU funding support, project development and compliance.
