Scotland Europa - Social Affairs

Social Affairs

On behalf of our member organisations, we actively address Social Affairs issues that emanate from Brussels, and accordingly liaise with key decision-makers in this area to promote our members interests.

Our Social Affairs dossier involves the policy monitoring and intelligence gathering of Social and Employment matters for our members.

Social affairs issues have featured highly on the Commission’s Work Programme, with the much talked about EU strategy for growth and jobs being a prime example.

More recently, Commissioner Spidla launched the Renewed Social Agenda which covers issues such as anti-discrimination, mobility, temporary employment, poverty and social exclusion.

We have been working with members to provide advance notice and intelligence on these important social issues. In addition, we have been specifically focussing on key pieces of legislation such as the Working Time Directive and offering advice on how to tap into funding streams including progress and the European Social Fund.
