This practical one-day workshop is designed to promote successful bidding/tendering techniques for supplying services to the World Bank and the various Regional Development Banks (RDBs).
This seminar is specifically aimed at UK SMEs looking to win business from the World Bank or any of the RDBs. It is also a useful course for staff new to organisations who work on World Bank/RDB projects.
In financial year 2009 UK firms won $100 million worth of business from the World Bank Group (ranking 16th in terms of the largest supplier of goods and services to the Bank). Given the massive scale of the potential opportunities this market presents British companies, getting the process right is crucial. Bidding for World Bank contracts can be a very costly and labour intensive activity, and many UK companies have lost out simply by failing to comply with basic tendering criteria. Many large and small businesses alike can find it all too daunting, and miss out on growth opportunities.
To help you get it right, the Aid Funded Business Service (AFBS) and Crown Agents, who have world-wide experience of the management of procurement activity and training on International Funding Institutions’ procurement programmes, offer this one-day workshop for UK companies.
The aim of the workshop is to increase awareness of the guidelines for the procurement of services within the World Bank Group and RDBs. The workshop is specifically designed to meet the requirements of those in-house staff directly involved in identification of bidding opportunities and preparation and submission of bids for World Bank/RDB contracts. The workshop is highly practical and participative, focusing on tender preparation techniques, essential marketing activities, the project cycle and all of the other issues central to effective bidding.
The Programme includes; Introduction to the World Bank/RDBs, Pre-Bid Activity, The Invitation, The Procurement Cycle, Case Study “Bid Compliance Checklist”, Case Study “Bid Preparation”, Case Study “Evaluation of Bids” and the Contract.
