Guide to Horizon Europe funding for the Missions now available
The Missions are a new European Union initiative to encourage key actors across Europe to work together in tackling what the EU considers to be some of the key thematic challenges facing our world: fighting cancer, adapting to climate change, protecting our oceans, living in greener cities, and promoting soil health and food.
The Missions are often talked about in relation to Horizon Europe, the EU’s new €95.5bn+ fund for research and innovation (R&I), which runs from 2021 to 2027. Horizon Europe is indeed a key component of the Missions and there are currently good funding opportunities for Scotland under the Missions part of Horizon Europe.
This briefing is intended to give an overview of these opportunities, but also to place them in the context of the wider Mission goals and tools, of which Horizon Europe is only a part. It aims to answer these questions:
- What are the Missions?
- How can Horizon Europe support the Missions and what are the current funding opportunities?
It is part of a wider programme of activity by Scotland Europa to raise awareness of the Missions with our members and wider Scottish stakeholders.
