EU funding and policy development
Policy decisions made by the European Union directly affect Scotland – from national and local government to businesses and individuals. We provide crucial analysis of the wider impact of these decisions on the public and private sectors.
Offering insight and expertise on EU public affairs, we provide early notification and interpretation to our members of European issues affecting Scottish interests. Policy areas of priority are defined by our members and Scottish Enterprise with regard to both interpreting policies and identifying opportunities.
We lead policy discussions aimed at benefiting Scotland’s economic development and influence in Europe. Working to raise Scotland’s profile in the EU, we aim to increase the level of knowledge of European issues within Scotland, supporting the Scottish Government’s EU engagement.
Our areas of focus can be grouped under the key headings: Innovation, Enterprise, Environment, Energy, Regional, and Inclusive Growth.
We work closely with our members to understand and influence the direction of EU policy and legislation. We monitor policy developments in the EU institutions and analyse the impact on our membership. We provide regular briefings on relevant legislative negotiations, public consultations, hearings and conferences. We also advise on how to position members in negotiations, how to put across core messages effectively in relevant policy areas and how to raise members’ profile in Brussels.
We also provide an understanding of and insight into policies aiming to increase the impact of EU funding and maintaining their role in supporting Scotland’s sustainable economic growth. We are actively engaged with the Scottish Government on the development and delivery of the European Structural & Investment Funds programmes in Scotland. We also work closely with the Scottish Government and other public sector stakeholders to provide coordinated access to EU funding information through the Scottish EU Funding Portal.
